Colorful Striped Knit Scarf Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in five colors: beige, pink, green, purple, and orange
• Size US 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Scissors

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Abbreviations:

• CO - Cast On
• K - Knit
• P - Purl
• BO - Bind Off

Instructions:

Note: Change colors as indicated or feel free to create your own order for the rows.

1. Using beige yarn, CO 40 stitches.
2. Row 1-4: (Garter Stitch) Knit all stitches.
3. Row 5: Change to pink yarn. K across.
4. Row 6: P across.
5. Row 7-20: Repeat rows 5-6, switching colors every four rows in this order: green, purple, orange.
6. Row 21-24: Return to beige yarn, Knit all stitches.
7. Continue alternating colors and knitting in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) between garter stitch borders, for a total length of about 60 inches or your desired length.
8. End with four rows of beige garter stitch.
9. BO, using beige yarn and weave in all ends with tapestry needle.

Finishing:

Block your scarf to even out the stitches and achieve smooth edges. Your colorful striped knit scarf is now complete!
